Driving Tour of Devils Lake Embankment and Pump Stations
Wednesday morning Hoeven will lead a ground tour of the Devils Lake embankment and pump stations with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials, the Devils Lake Joint Water Resource Board and county and city officials to inspect the progress of the nearly completed embankment project. The Senator has worked to secure total cost of more than $500 million since 2009 to address flood protection, roads and property losses in the region. Since his tenure as governor, Hoeven has worked to address Devils Lake flooding with a three-pronged approach: retaining water in the upper basin; mitigation of existing homes, roads and other infrastructure and outlets on the lake to manage and control releases of water. Today’s review of the embankment marks the culmination of a long effort to protect the Devils Lake community from flooding. Media are welcome to join the senator and other officials on the driving tour that will begin at City Hall.
