Hoeven Statement on Voting for a Bill to Prevent a Government Shutdown and Defund Planned Parenthood

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement regarding his vote for a continuing resolution that would have ensured the continued the operation of the U.S. government and also defund Planned Parenthood:

“Today, I voted for a continuing resolution that would have fully funded the U.S. government and at the same time defunded Planned Parenthood. Unfortunately, the legislation did not pass. To ensure that women’s health care needs are met, the legislation reallocated Planned Parenthood’s funding to community health clinics in the states. North Dakota has 16 community health clinics across the state, which means women would have had broader access to care.”
