Hoeven Announces More than $200K for North Dakota Council on Abused Women's Services
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has awarded $213,978 to the North Dakota Council on Abused Women through its Grants to State Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Coalitions Program. This program works to provide support to member rape crisis centers and domestic violence shelters through funding, training, technical assistance and public awareness.
“We should do all we can to support victims of sexual assault and domestic violence,” Hoeven said. “The North Dakota Council on Abused Women’s Services has worked to this end since it began in 1978, and today’s funds will allow this organization to continue its important mission of providing leadership and support in the identification, intervention and prevention of domestic and sexual violence.”
