Hoeven Statement on the CBO's New Budget and Economic Outlook
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement in response to the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) new Budget and Economic Outlook:
“Today, the CBO issued its update on the U.S. budget and its outlook for the U.S. economy. The report highlights the importance of getting our economy going again, controlling spending and creating the jobs that millions of Americans so very much need. Our nation must adopt a pro-growth, pro-jobs strategy with good fiscal management like the approach we took in North Dakota, which has produced a balanced budget, a growing economy, and most importantly for American families, jobs.
“Although the CBO report projects some decline in the federal deficit over the next decade owing to the Budget Control Act of 2011, clearly more needs to be done to control spending. In the weeks and months ahead Congress needs to work steadfastly to find additional savings to further reduce our deficit and debt.”
