Hoeven Statement on President's Executive Order to Increase Access to Affordable Health Insurance
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement after the president signed an executive order to expand access to more affordable health care plans. The order directs federal agencies to issue rules allowing trade association and other organizations to offer health insurance plans across state lines, lifting some limits on short-term insurance plans and allowing employers to set aside pre-tax dollars to help pay employees insurance premiums.
“We’ve said all along that health reform will be a multiple-step process, including administrative actions to help reduce the cost of health care and health insurance,” said Hoeven. “While we continue to work in Congress to repeal and replace Obamacare, today’s order provides regulatory relief to bring down premiums for workers and employers and will help expand access to more affordable health insurance options.”
