Hoeven: New Census Estimates Cap a Decade of ND Growth

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today said new U.S. Census Bureau estimates showing North Dakota’s population about to surpass 700,000 caps nearly a decade of annual population growth. According to Census data, the state has shown a population increase every year since 2003, which was the state’s decade low, for a cumulative increase of almost 10 percent in 2012.

The statewide population growth reflects the more diversified and dynamic economy the state has worked to create since 2000 by forging a strong legal, tax and regulatory climate for business.

“From Fargo to Williston and Grand Forks to Dickinson, North Dakota’s population, per capita income and general economy have grown,” Hoeven said. “By creating a strong business environment and fostering opportunity, we have drawn people from across the nation in search of a better life.”
