Hoeven Meets with President on Agriculture and Trade
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee and a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, released the following statement after meeting with the President, along with Governor Doug Burgum, to discuss agriculture issues, including the importance of trade.
“We had a productive meeting with the President today to outline the importance of supporting our farmers and ranchers, including ensuring they have free and fair trade,” said Hoeven. “We again emphasized that trade and markets are essential for agriculture states like North Dakota. As negotiations continue on NAFTA and with China, we will work with the Administration to ensure that we have increased market access. We want to get China to end their unfair trade practices, but need to do so in a way that prevents retaliatory tariffs on our ag products.”
