Hoeven Honors North Dakota National Guard Battalion, Families at Send-Off
136th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion Will Deploy Early Next Year to Afghanistan for One Year
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Appropriations Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Committee, today joined state, community and North Dakota National Guard leaders in a send-off ceremony for the 136th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion based in Devils Lake. The unit is preparing for a yearlong deployment to Afghanistan beginning early next year.
“The men and women in the North Dakota National Guard do outstanding work, which is why the 136th has been called on to provide logistical support in Afghanistan,” Hoeven said. “We are thankful for the sacrifices these soldiers and their families are making during this deployment, and we know they will do an excellent job. Our thoughts and prayers go with them.”
The 136th will specifically be working to provide command and control structure for logistical units in Afghanistan. The unit is comprised of individuals from more than twenty-eight communities across North Dakota, Minnesota and Kentucky.
