Hoeven Announces Nearly $300,000 in Federal Funding for Sitting Bull College
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee and the Committee on Indian Affairs, today announced that the Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Native Americans has awarded $294,736 to Sitting Bull College to support its native language immersion and restoration program. The funds are made available through HHS’ Esther Martinez Initiative, which seeks to revitalize Native American languages.
“Tribal languages are critical to preserving and strengthening tribal culture,” Hoeven said. “Today’s funding will strengthen Native American identity at Sitting Bull College and encourage communities to maintain strong tribal culture and unity.”
