Hoeven Announces $435,000 Grant to NDSU for Cancer Research
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the National Cancer Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has awarded a $435,000 grant to North Dakota State University’s (NDSU) Chemistry and Biochemistry Department to support research into the fundamental nature and causes of cancer. Today’s award is the first portion of an expected three-year project and is made available through NIH’s Academic Research Enhancement Award (AREA) program.
“Our research institutions work hard to expand our understanding of how cancer and other serious diseases develop,” Hoeven said. “Today’s award supports that important work, which will better equip our medical professionals to prevent and treat illness, helping protect the lives of our family and friends.”
