Hoeven Announces $1.6 Million in Federal Funding for Crime Prevention, Victims' Services in North Dakota

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has awarded a total of $1.6 million to the North Dakota Council on Abused Women and the North Dakota Attorney General to support a collaborative effort between them aimed at ending human trafficking.

The funds are awarded as follows:

  • North Dakota Council on Abused Women – $900,000 – The funds, made available through the DOJ’s Enhanced Collaborative Model to Combat Human Trafficking Program, will support the development and enhancement of multidisciplinary human trafficking task forces that implement collaborative approaches to combat all forms of human trafficking. Specifically, the North Dakota Council on Abused Women will use the grant to work in collaboration with the ND Attorney General to implement this project within the state.
  • North Dakota Council on Abused Women – $100,000 – The funds will be used to support the development of a statewide strategy to enhance services offered to crime victims in North Dakota.
  • North Dakota Office of the Attorney General – $600,000 – The funds, made available through the DOJ’s Enhanced Collaborative Model to Combat Human Trafficking Program, will support the development and enhancement of multidisciplinary human trafficking task forces that implement collaborative approaches to combat all forms of human trafficking. Specifically, the North Dakota Office of the Attorney General will use the grant to work in collaboration with the ND Council on Abused Women to implement this project within the state.

“As North Dakota’s population has grown, it’s important for us to invest in programs that work to combat crime,” Hoeven said. “Today’s grants will support a collaboration between North Dakota’s Office of the Attorney General and the North Dakota Council on Abused Women so they can work together to thwart human trafficking.”
