Hoeven Advances $46 Million to North Dakota Department of Transportation to Repair Damaged Roadways

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban DevelopmentAppropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded $46,191,478 to the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDoT). This funding, detailed below, was authorized under the Emergency Relief (ER) program to reconstruct and repair federal-aid highways and roads on federal lands that have been damaged due to flooding in Fall 2019 and Spring 2020. 

Fall 2019 Flood Project Funds, made available after Governor Burgum issued a statewide Disaster Declaration on October 21, 2019:

  • North Dakota Statewide Traditional Flooding – $8,665,379
  • West James River Basin Flooding – $7,520,650
  • Rice Lake Basin Flooding – $1,826,231
  • Salt Lake Basin Flooding – $1,703,264

Spring 2020 Flood Project Funds, made available after Governor Burgum issued a statewide Disaster Declaration on April 24, 2020:

  • West James River Basin Flood – $10,506,729
  • Rice Lake Basin Flood – $5,740,945
  • West Basin Flood – $2,172,606
  • Sheyenne/James River Basin Flood – $2,117,442
  • Basin Flood – $1,731,954
  • South Basin Flood – $1,628,251
  • North Basin Flood – $1,303,210
  • East Basin Flood – $1,274,817

“It’s important our roadways remain accessible and these grants from DOT will enable our state to repair and restore highways and roadways that have been damaged by natural disasters,” said Hoeven.
