Hoeven Welcomes Summer Interns to Washington, D.C., Bismarck and Fargo Offices

Fall Intership Application Deadline July 5

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today announced that five students will intern with his Washington, D.C., Bismarck and Fargo offices this summer. The interns will work with the senator and his staff on legislative, communication and administrative projects. 

“We are again excited and grateful to welcome some of North Dakota’s best and brightest young men and women to work as interns in my Washington, D.C. and state offices,” Hoeven said. “These interns represent North Dakota’s future leaders, and we hope their congressional internship will cultivate their knowledge and skills as they gain an invaluable firsthand look at the legislative process, learn about the issues facing our nation and have the chance to serve the people of North Dakota.” 

Levi Bachmeier, Peter Frei and Lauren Lyngstad are currently interning in Hoeven’s Washington, D.C. office. 

West Fargo native Levi Bachmeier, a 2010 graduate of West Fargo High School, will be a senior at Concordia College Moorhead this fall. Levi is studying social studies education and upon graduation hopes to begin a teaching career working with North Dakota high school students. 

Peter Frei, a native of Fargo, graduated from Oak Grove High School in 2010 and will begin his senior year at Creighton University this fall. Peter is studying economics and is interested in entrepreneurship, economics and urban development. Peter hopes his internship will enable him to gain a better understanding of the legislative process as well as the timely issues facing our nation and North Dakota. 

Fargo native Lauren Lyngstad graduated from Fargo North High School in 2010. Lauren will be a senior at Southern Methodist University in the fall and is pursuing degrees in marketing and communication studies. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a career working in human resources or marketing prior to studying to earn her MBA. 

Conner Swanson of Bowman is interning in Hoeven’s Bismarck office. Conner graduated from Bowman County High School in 2012 and recently finished his freshman year at North Dakota State University where he is majoring in political science with a minor in natural resource management. Conner is actively involved in NDSU’s student government, serves as a student senator and is a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.

 Roz Leighton is interning in Hoeven’s Fargo office. She was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minn., and currently is completing her senior year at NDSU where she is pursuing a degree in agricultural economics. Roz has been actively involved in campus life, including extensive participation in her university’s Greek system and National Agri-Marketing Association team. 

Senator Hoeven offers internship opportunities in his Washington, D.C. and state offices. Internships run during summer, fall and spring sessions. The senator is currently seeking fall interns to work in his Washington, Bismarck and Fargo offices. Applications for fall 2013 internship opportunities must be submitted by Friday, July 5.
