Hoeven Visits Students at Lewis and Clark Elementary School in Mandan
MANDAN, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven today visited Lewis and Clark Elementary School to present a U.S. flag to Melanie Campbell’s first grade class and to speak at an assembly with the entire student body. In March, Ms. Campbell’s students wrote letters to the senator requesting a flag to be flown over the U.S. Capitol. Hoeven surprised the students today by delivering the flag during an assembly at the school about American history and traditions.
“It’s very important for our young people to learn about the great American tradition,” said Hoeven. “It’s always good to see students, like Ms. Campbell’s class, become involved in civics. I was happy to hear from some of our state’s youngest residents and to help be a part of their experience learning about our government.”
