Hoeven: US Needs to Pressure China to Get North Korea to Stand Down
WASHINGTON - Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement after North Korea conducted a successful test of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
“North Korea’s continued development of its nuclear arms represents a real threat to the security of our nation and our allies,” Hoeven said. “We need to find ways to put pressure on China to make North Korea stand down. The fact is China needs to sell its goods to the United States. That enables us to put pressure on China to reign in North Korea. At the same time, we need to work with our allies to strengthen sanctions on North Korea. President Trump should use the G20 meeting as an opportunity to work with our allies and put these sanctions in place.”
