Hoeven Touts Small Businesses' Contributions to Economy, Encourages North Dakotans to Shop Local on Small Business Saturday
Senate Passes Resolution Designating Nov. 26 as Small Business Saturday
FARGO, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven announced that the U.S. Senate unanimously passed S. Res. 569, legislation designating November 26, 2016, as Small Business Saturday. Hoeven cosponsored this resolution, which helps increase awareness of locally owned small businesses and their value to our economy.
“Our nation’s economy is built on the work of small businesses and small business owners,” Hoeven said. “This resolution recognizes the important role they play in our nation’s economic success by designating November 26th as Small Business Saturday. We encourage all North Dakotans to support their local small businesses and show their appreciation for how these businesses contribute to our communities.”
The resolution, which can be viewed here, encourages consumers to shop locally and to increase awareness about how locally-owned small businesses affect the economy. The Small Business Administration says there are nearly 71,000 small businesses in North Dakota employing almost 200,000 individuals.
