Hoeven to Pay Tribute at Memorial Day Events in Bismarck, Mandan
BISMARCK, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement in observance of Memorial Day. On Monday, Senator Hoeven will pay tribute at the American Legion Lloyd Spetz Post No. 1 Memorial Day observance at 10:00 a.m. CT. Later, the senator will speak at the Memorial Day Ceremony hosted by the North Dakota National Guard at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. The ceremony begins at 12:00 p.m. CT.
“It is important that we honor our servicemen and women for the sacrifices they have made to protect our freedoms. They have risen to answer a great call, and in their answer, displayed the best of America.
“Today, we gather in towns and cities across North Dakota and throughout the United States to show our respect and admiration for the brave military men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. We do this by laying flowers on graves or holding ceremonies to remember loved ones who have died in the line of duty.
“We extend our deepest thanks to those who have made our lives better by giving theirs, and with those thanks we also offer our prayers for all active duty, reserve and National Guard members who are defending our country and preserving our freedoms. We also thank their families, because they too serve and make sacrifices. May God bless them, and may God bless America.”
