Hoeven to Hold Red River Valley Flood Protection Update & Tour with ASA for Civil Works R.D. James Next Friday
FARGO, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven today announced that he will hold a flood protection update and tour with Assistant Secretary of the Army (ASA) for Civil Works R.D. James in the Fargo-Moorhead region on Friday, November 1. Hoeven, along with local and state leaders, will outline progress on building the region’s comprehensive flood protection as well as the next stages of construction.
The senator invited ASA James to the state as part of his continued efforts to fulfill the federal government’s increased funding commitment, which Hoeven helped secure under the new Project Partnership Agreement (PPA), reduce local costs and ensure the project receives the support it needs in the coming fiscal years through the Army Corps’ work plans to keep construction on track. Details for the visit will be released in the coming days.
“We continue to make important strides in reducing the local cost share for, and advancing construction of, comprehensive flood protection in the Red River Valley,” said Hoeven. “The visit by ASA James next week will help ensure the Army Corps provides the funding needed to keep the project’s construction on schedule. We look forward to updating him on the project and appreciate his willingness to visit the region.”
