Hoeven, Thune Wager Team Jerseys for Saturday's Game

WASHINGTON – Senators John Hoeven and John Thune today announced that they have agreed to a friendly wager on the outcome of Saturday’s Dakota Maker football game between North Dakota State University (NDSU) and South Dakota State University (SDSU).

If North Dakota wins, Thune has agreed to wear for a day a NDSU Bison jersey, provided by Hoeven. In the event that South Dakota wins, Hoeven will wear an SDSU Jackrabbits jersey, provided by Thune.

“I know Senator Thune will look just striking on Capitol Hill in Bison Green and Gold,” Hoeven said. “While I am confident the Bison will win Saturday’s game, we look forward to welcoming the Jackrabbits to Fargo for this annual matchup. The two schools’ rivalry reflects the deep bond our states share. Mikey and I look forward to being at the game to cheer on NDSU. Go Bison!”

“I hope my friend from North Dakota has his jersey measurements ready, because I have a good feeling he will be wearing Jackrabbit Blue and Yellow after Saturday’s win,” said Thune. “The Dakota Marker is a great tradition and rivalry between our two states, and we look forward to winning in Bison territory on Saturday. Go Jacks!”

On Saturday, Nov. 10 the NDSU Bison will play the SDSU Jackrabbits at the annual Dakota Maker game scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Fargodome in Fargo. This is the ninth year the two teams have competed for the Dakota Maker trophy. The trophy design represents the monuments used to separate North and South Dakota when they were first designated as separate states.

Hoeven and Thune often work together on legislative issues; both serve as members of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry Committee.

North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple and South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard have also staked a friendly wager on the outcome of this weekend’s Dakota Marker football game.
