Hoeven Statement on Senate Confirmation of Senator Jeff Sessions as Attorney General of the United States

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement in response to Senate confirmation of Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions to be Attorney General of the United States:

“As a former attorney general of Alabama, U.S. Attorney and current U.S. Senator, Jeff Sessions is well qualified to serve as the nation’s top law enforcement officer. During his confirmation hearing last month, he affirmed his reverence for the Constitution and his commitment to the rule of law. He expressed his belief in impartiality and equal justice under the law. These are qualities essential to serving effectively as U.S. Attorney General. I believe he will apply the law as it is written, fairly and in accordance with the U.S. Constitution and congressional intention.
