Hoeven Statement on House's Voting Down a Farm Bill Today
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven released the following statement regarding the failure of the U.S. House of Representatives to pass a Farm Bill for the nation today:
“Like many others, I am very disappointed with the inability of the U.S. House to pass a new Farm Bill today. The Senate has already passed a strong Farm Bill that focuses on enhanced crop insurance, the number one priority for North Dakota producers; continues the sugar program, and also saves $24 billion to help reduce the deficit. The House now needs to do the same.
“I urge House members to reconsider and pass a long-term Farm Bill for the good of all Americans, who enjoy the highest quality, lowest cost food supply in the world, thanks to our farmers and ranchers.”
