Hoeven Statement on House Passage of Farm Bill
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, today issued the following statement regarding the passage of Farm Bill legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives:
“Today the U.S. House passed its version of a five-year Farm Bill for the American people. The Senate version, which passed last month, helps to reduce our deficit, streamlines farm programs and ensures that farmers and ranchers continue to have strong support through enhanced crop insurance.
“Now it is vital that both chambers and members on both sides of the aisles need to reconcile the differences between the two versions and finalize a five-year Farm Bill that can pass both the House and the Senate. I am committed to that goal.
“America’s agriculture sector not only provides us with the highest quality, lowest cost food supply in the world but also employs more than 16 million people in every part of our nation. A strong Farm Bill is important for the entire American people as well as for our nation’s farmers and ranchers, and we must resolve to get it done.”
