Hoeven Statement on Freedom Salute Ceremony Held Today for North Dakota Servicemembers
BISMARCK, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement to honor members of the North Dakota National Guard’s Detachment 42 (Det. 42) Operational Support Airlift. The senator was unable to attend today’s ceremony because he is on a Senate mission to Ukraine.
“Today is an important and proud day for the State of North Dakota as we welcome home Det. 42. This unit is comprised of highly skilled, disciplined airmen, and we are grateful to these individuals, as well as their families, for the sacrifices they make defending our nation’s freedoms. They represent the very best of our country, and we are proud and thankful for the work Det. 42 is doing on behalf of our state and country.”
The eight members of the Bismarck-based Detachment 42 Operational Support Airlift returned from a deployment to Afghanistan in November. The highly specialized unit operated King Air 300 aircraft and provided aerial surveillance and support for military personnel on the ground.
Hoeven is a member of the Senate Appropriations Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee.
