Hoeven: Senate Should Debate JUSTICE Act
Senator Cosponsoring Police Reform Legislation to Improve Training, Accountability
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven released the following statement after the Just and Unifying Solutions to Invigorate Communities Everywhere (JUSTICE) Act was blocked from debate in the Senate. Hoeven is a cosponsor of the legislation, introduced by Senator Tim Scott to make important reforms to improve training, accountability and transparency in law enforcement.
“The Senate should debate the JUSTICE Act, which makes important reforms to improve law enforcement and prevent the use of excessive force. This legislation provides law enforcement with better training and transparency so they are able to do their job with good accountability to the communities they are entrusted to serve and protect. I am disappointed that this legislation was blocked from debate in the Senate and will continue working with Senator Tim Scott to advance these important reforms.”
