Hoeven: Senate Confirms John Henderson as Head of Air Force Installations
Senator Worked with Henderson on Flood and Military Installations Projects During His Time as Head of Army Corps of Engineers’ Omaha District
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Military Construction Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Senate has confirmed Colonel John Henderson (Ret.) as Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Environment and Energy. Hoeven met with Henderson last month, inviting him to visit North Dakota’s air bases in Minot and Grand Forks to review infrastructure needs for the bases, as well as the unmanned aerial systems (UAS) developments in Grand Forks, which are fostered by the partnership between the base and Grand Sky Technology Park.
“Col. Henderson’s appointment to this position is really important for us, because he’ll oversee airbase installations,” said Hoeven. “In meeting with him during the nomination process, I stressed the importance of supporting long-term infrastructure investments that will make our bases in Minot and Grand Forks more efficient and enable our airmen and women to better perform their duties. I also highlighted the unique partnership in Grand Forks with UAS, and we look forward to working with him to build this mission.”
Henderson is a native of South Dakota and became the Commander of the Omaha District for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2015. Hoeven’s work with Henderson included construction projects at North Dakota military installations and flood projects along the Missouri River.
