Hoeven: NSF Awards More Than $1 Million to UND and Laserlith Corporation of Grand Forks
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today announced that the National Science Foundation has awarded a total of $1,037,082 to Laserlith Corporation of Grand Forks and the University of North Dakota (UND) to research and develop wireless devices and services. Details of the grants are as follows:
• Laserlith Corporation – $745,483 – The funds will support the research and development of more efficient wireless communication devices to reduce material costs and power consumption while also improving performance.
• UND – $291,599 – The grant will be used to support research to increase the quality of service for consumers amidst the growing competition of new devices and services that use the radio spectrum.
“North Dakota’s businesses and universities are at the cutting-edge of scientific and technological development,” Hoeven said. “These funds will help Laserlith and UND continue to create solutions and research new alternatives for problems facing wireless and radio communication.”
