Hoeven Nominates Darin & Toni Claus From Milnor As Angels In Adoption
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today announced that he has nominated Darin and Toni Claus from Milnor to represent North Dakota as the state’s 2018 Angels in Adoption. As Angels in Adoption, Darin and Toni can attend the Angels in Adoption program this fall in Washington, D.C.
“Darin and Toni’s commitment to provide a loving home for children in need is an inspiration, and their work to adopt and foster has changed the lives of those whom they have welcomed into their home,” Hoeven said. “Our state is a great place to live because of individuals like Darin and Toni who invest in their communities and are dedicated to helping others.”
Darin and Toni began fostering in 1993 and worked extensively with PATH North Dakota for 10 years as therapeutic foster parents. They eventually adopted five of the 20 children they fostered. Darin is a farmer and Toni works for Dollar General.
Organized by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI), the Angels in Adoption program allows members of Congress to honor constituents for their contributions to child welfare and adoption. More than 2,600 individuals, families and organizations have been honored through CCAI’s Angels in Adoption program since 1999.
Last year, Hoeven recognized Marian Kadrie of Fargo as an Angel in Adoption. The senator has previously recognized as Angels in Adoption: Michelle Tweten Schmidt of Minot, Rod and Tracey Belzer from of Ward County, Sharon Maier of Fargo, Roberta Soper of Devils Lake, District Judge Joel D. Medd of Grand Forks and Kevin and Paula Burckhard of Minot.
