Hoeven: New $109 Million Minot Retail and Housing Development Project Important Milestone for City
Senator, City Leaders Break Ground for New Project
MINOT, N.D. – U.S. Senator John Hoeven, along with city and state leaders, today participated in a groundbreaking ceremony to mark construction of a new residential and commercial development project, known as the Southgate Addition, in Minot. The new project will develop a hotel, 70 extended stay housing units, 371 multi-family residential units and a 180,000-square-foot retail center. The project will cost an estimated $109 million and is expected to be completed by the fall of 2013.
“Today’s groundbreaking ceremony is an important milestone for the people of Minot,” said Hoeven. “The area’s rapidly growing population, coupled with last year’s historic flooding, created great challenges for the community of Minot, but they also created a real can-do spirit and sense of civic pride. The Southgate Addition is in part the result of that spirit and pride, and we are grateful to all of the talented, hardworking individuals who worked to achieve it.”
The Southgate Addition project is being developed by Fargo-based Roers Development, Construction, & Property Management and Minnesota-based Oppidan Development. The Minot City Council approved the Southgate Addition project in May of this year.
