Hoeven, Klobuchar Wager Home State Delicacies on Frozen Four

WASHINGTON – Senators John Hoeven (R-N.D.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) today announced that they have agreed to a friendly wager on the outcome of the April 10 NCAA Frozen Four semifinals faceoff between the University of North Dakota (UND) and the University of Minnesota.

If North Dakota wins, Klobuchar has agreed to provide Hoeven with a homemade frozen hotdish. In the event that Minnesota wins, Hoeven will provide Klobuchar with a box of North Dakota’s famous chocolate covered potato chips known as chippers.

“After previously winning Senator Klobuchar’s famous Taconite Tater Tot Hotdish, I am eager to try a hockey-inspired variation of the traditional Minnesota delicacy when UND defeats the Gophers during the Frozen Four semifinals,” said Hoeven. “North Dakotans are proud of UND’s tremendous success this season, and we look forwarding to cheering our team on as they compete in Philadelphia.”

“Nothing would help take the sting out of a Frozen Four loss better than a plate of my ‘frozen’ hotdish, but I’m excited to dig into a box of chippers after the Gophers ice out UND next week,” Klobuchar said. “The Gophers are having another blockbuster season and I’m looking forward to cheering them on as they make their 21st visit to the Frozen Four.”

On Thursday, April 10, UND will play Minnesota at the NCAA Frozen Four semifinal game scheduled to be held in Philadelphia. The last meeting between the teams occurred on Jan. 19, 2013. The teams tied 4-4.
