Hoeven: HUD Provides Waiver for LaGrave on First, Allows Project to Move Forward
Senator Secured Commitment from HUD Secretary Carson to Expedite the Permitting Process
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has approved a waiver for LaGrave on First. This nearly $9 million project being developed by the City of Grand Forks and the local housing authority will help serve the region’s chronically homeless population.
The waiver allows the project to advance using HUD’s HOME program and Section 8 Project-based Vouchers. The text of the waiver can be found here. During a committee hearing earlier this year, Hoeven secured a commitment from HUD Secretary Ben Carson to help the project work through the permitting process.
“With our state’s short construction season, it’s important that projects move through the permitting process in a timely fashion,” Hoeven said. “This waiver was a necessary step to move LaGrave on First forward, and I appreciate Secretary Carson for following through on his commitment to me to resolve this process.”
