WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) National Institute of General Medical Sciences has awarded $2,383,747 to the University of North Dakota (UND). The funds will support a Center of Excellence for pharmacology, physiology and biological chemical research, which will aid advances in disease diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
“The University of North Dakota is an internationally-recognized research institution,” Hoeven said. “Today’s funding will support biomedical research aimed at better understanding diseases and the agents that cause illness, which will improve our communities’ health and well-being through better treatment and prevention.”
