Hoeven, Heitkamp: Senate Passes Resolution Celebrating Fourth Consecutive NDSU Bison Football National Championship
WASHINGTON – Senators John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp today announced the Senate has passed a resolution they authored to honor the North Dakota State University (NDSU) Bison football team for winning its fourth consecutive NCAA Division I National Championship, an unprecedented achievement in the Football Championship Subdivision. The resolution recognizes the hard work and accomplishments of the NDSU coaches and players, noting the team’s 33-game winning streak and 58 to 3 record over the past four seasons.
“The NDSU Bison made history this past weekend by winning its fourth straight FCS national championship,” said Hoeven. “Mikey and I were thrilled to join the rest of the Bison Nation in cheering on NDSU during that exciting game. Coach Klieman, his staff and the players have shown amazing skill and fortitude in continuing the Bison’s excellent record. Our state feels tremendous pride for their accomplishments. That is evident through the spirit and dedication of the Bison fans, and this resolution reflects that pride.”
“Winning one national championship is an incredible feat. But winning four in a row? That’s just another day for NDSU football,” said Heitkamp. “It was such a privilege to attend the game down in Frisco and congratulations to the Bison on their fourth consecutive FCS title. They’ve proven that great things can happen for those who work hard, and they did it the right way – by making a commitment every single day to the team. They make NDSU and North Dakota proud.”
The Bison won its fourth Division I national title in Frisco, Texas, on January 10, defeating the Illinois State Redbirds 29 to 27. An estimated 17,000 Bison fans were in attendance.
