Hoeven: FDA Awards $125,000 to North Dakota Department of Agriculture

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee and the Committee on Agriculture, announced today that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has awarded $125,000 to the North Dakota Department of Agriculture to support its North Dakota Drug Residue Prevention Program. The program works to protect the health and safety of livestock and pets, maintain the integrity of animal bi-products for human consumption and protect consumers’ interests in the quality of products offered for sale.

“North Dakota has a strong agricultural industry, and it’s important that we work to ensure the quality and safety of animal products that are sold in our state,” Hoeven said. “This funding will help to prevent disease in livestock, poultry and other animals, which in turn will make sure that animal products are safe for human consumption.”
