Hoeven: FAA Awards Over $24 Million For North Dakota Airports, Including $8.5 Million For Hector International Terminal Expansion
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Transportation Appropriations Committee, today announced over $24 million in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awards for North Dakota airports, including $8.5 million for Hector International’s Airport Terminal Expansion Project. Senator Hoeven is working to fulfill the project’s federal cost share, now having secured almost $34 million for the effort to date. Additionally, the FAA is awarding Minot International Airport and Bismarck Municipal Airport nearly $16 million to rehabilitate and reconstruct existing taxiways.
Specifically, these grants include:
- $8,538,478 for Hector International Airport to construct a new public use deicing pad including containment facility and associated equipment and expand the existing terminal apron.
- Hoeven is working to fulfill the project’s federal cost share, having secured almost $34 million for the effort to date. This includes an initial $10 million grant from the FAA awarded earlier this year, as well as $15 million from programs like the Airport Improvement Program (AIP), which Hoeven works to fund each year through annual appropriations legislation.
- $9,814,070 for Bismarck Municipal Airport to reconstruct existing paved taxiway pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.
- $6,146,688 for Minot International Airport to rehabilitate existing paved taxiways to maintain the structural integrity of the pavements and to minimize foreign object debris to extend their useful lives.
“The FAA’s funding will support continued efforts for the Hector International Terminal Expansion as well as vital rehabilitation and reconstruction at Bismarck and Minot airports,” said Hoeven. “It’s imperative that North Dakotans are able to fly and travel safely throughout the state and country, and we will continue to work to secure funding for these major airport updates.”
