Hoeven: Democrats' Tax and Spend Bill Will Increase Inflation on American Families
WASHINGTON – At a press conference with his Senate Republican colleagues today, Senator John Hoeven outlined the negative impacts the Democrats’ reckless tax-and-spend bill would have on low- and middle-class families and individuals. Hoeven is pushing back on the Democrats’ efforts to raise the state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap, which would provide a tax cut to the top 13 percent of wealthy Americans. The senator continues fighting for American consumers and working to oppose the wasteful spending bill that will harm economic growth, reduce jobs and add to our nation’s debt and deficit.
“Democrats continue to push this tax-and-spend bill and they’re doing it at a time when inflation is already high,” said Hoeven. “They’re pushing to raise the SALT deduction and give a big break to their friends in California and New York, the wealthiest people, while they increase inflation and make it more difficult for low and middle-income people across this country. It makes absolutely no sense. We want to get back to the kind of policies that grow our economy, solve our supply chain disruptions and create more opportunities.”
