Hoeven, Cornyn Wager Bison for Beef on Saturday's Bison, Bearkat Championship Game
WASHINGTON – Senators John Hoeven (R-N.D.) and John Cornyn (R-Texas) today announced that they have agreed to a friendly wager on the outcome of Saturday’s NCAA Division I Championship Subdivision title game in Frisco, Texas between first-ranked North Dakota State University (NDSU) and fifth-ranked Sam Houston State.
If North Dakota wins, Cornyn has agreed to provide Hoeven with Texas beef steaks. In the event that Texas wins, Hoeven will provide Cornyn with North Dakota bison steaks. Hoeven and Cornyn often work together on legislative issues.
“I know Senator Cornyn will choose only the choicest cuts for me,” Hoeven said. “While I am confident the Bison will prevail Saturday, we look forward to playing the Bearkats in Frisco for this historic rematch. Mikey and I look forward to being at the game, if the Senate schedule allows, and next chance I get I intend to ask Senator Cornyn to show me the beef!”
“We’re excited to host the formidable North Dakota State University Bison back in Frisco for another rematch, but this time, I’m confident Coach Willie Fritz, quarterback Brian Bell and the potent Bearkats offense will be able to overcome the Bison. Sandy and I look forward to enjoying some delicious North Dakota bison steaks in just a few weeks,” Sen. Cornyn said.
On Saturday, January 5 the NDSU Bison will play the Sam Houston State Bearkats at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision title scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. CT at the FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco, Texas. This is a rematch of last year’s game, which the Bison won 17-6.
