Hoeven Announces Nearly $216,000 in HUD Grants to Support Family Self-Sufficiency in the Red River Valley
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded two grants totaling $215,735 to housing agencies in the Red River Valley. The funds are made available through HUD’s Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program and will be used to coordinate services, such as job training, child care and financial literacy, to help families and individuals increase their income and reduce the need for rental assistance and other support programs. The details of the awards are as follows:
- Fargo Housing and Redevelopment Authority - $110,836
- Grand Forks Housing Authority - $104,899
“These awards will help families in Fargo and Grand Forks access opportunities, like a better job and permanent housing, that will give them a stronger financial footing,” Hoeven said.
