Hoeven Announces Nearly $200K in Federal Funding to Promote Community and Economic Development in North Dakota

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded a total of $198,000 to the Lake Agassiz Regional Council, the Lewis and Clark Regional Development Council and the North Central Planning Council. The funds will be used to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) in order to promote private capital investment and job creation.  

“In order to strengthen and diversify North Dakota’s economy, it’s important for us to help promote private-sector investment and jobs creation,” Hoeven said. “Today’s EDA grants will do just that by helping to establish an economic development planning framework, process and strategy that will support investment and new jobs.”

The grants are awarded as follows:

  • Lake Agassiz Regional Council – $66,000 to establish an economic development planning framework, process and strategy in order to support private capital investment and job creation in the region
  • Lewis and Clark Regional Development Council – $66,000 to establish an economic development planning framework, process and strategy in order to support private capital investment and job creation in the region
  • North Central Planning Council – $66,000 to bring the private and public sectors together in the creating an economic development plan to diversify and strengthen the regional economy
