Hoeven Announces More Than $7.4 Million for North Dakota Airports

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Transportation Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded more than $7.4 million in grants for North Dakota airports. Details of the funding are as follows:

  • Hillsboro Municipal Airport Authority – $1,566,239 – The funds will be used to expand the apron, reconstruct an existing taxiway parallel to the runway and build a taxiway providing access to aircraft hangars.
  • City of Williston – $1,141,890 – The funds will be used to fund the fifth phase of construction of Williston’s new airport. The fifth phase consists of building a new apron, electrical vault building and firefighting and snow removal storage building. These funds are in addition to the $13.1 million Hoeven announced last week.
  • Devils Lake Airport Authority – $750,550 – The funds will be used to purchase equipment to help the airport maintain operations during and after snow fall.
  • Crosby Airport Authority – $600,000 – The funds will be used to install drainage improvements, rebuild existing taxiways and build a new taxiway to provide access to aircraft hangars.
  • Gwinner Municipal Airport Authority – $600,000 – The funds will be used to build a 9,000 square foot hangar.
  • Mercer County Regional Airport Authority – $600,000 – The funds will be used to replace the airport’s wind cone and reconstruct the existing taxiway.
  • Oakes Municipal Airport Authority – $516,499 – The funds will be used to build a parking lot, general aviation terminal building and building to house snow removal equipment.
  • Carrington Municipal Airport Authority – $513,464 – The funds will be used to build a more than 5,600 square foot hangar.
  • State of North Dakota – $485,463 – The funds will be used for a state system plan to evaluate development needs and pavement conditions for airports throughout North Dakota.
  • Casselton Regional Airport Authority – $271,299 – The funds will be used to rehabilitate the apron.
  • Cavalier Municipal Airport Authority – $165,146 – The funds will be used to replace visual guidance systems to make the airport more accessible.
  • Cando Municipal Airport Authority – $88,200 – The funds will be used to fund the design engineering needed to rehabilitate the airport’s runway apron and taxiway.
  • Ellendale Airport– $81,000 – The funds will be used to replace the replace the airport’s rotating beacon and rehabilitate taxiways and the runway.
  • Linton Municipal Airport Authority – $73,005 – The funds will be used to design a new wind cone, rotating beacon and lighting system for the airport.

“Cities and rural communities throughout North Dakota rely on their airports,” Hoeven said. “The economic activity our state’s airport generate as well as their importance to our state’s agriculture industry, make them an indispensable part of our economic well-being. Today’s infrastructure investments will help ensure that these airports can continue to safely support our state’s aviation needs.”
