Hoeven Announces More Than $7 Million in Additional CARES Act Funding to Support ND Higher Education Institutions

BISMARCK, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate AppropriationsCommittee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded $7,218,962 to universities and colleges in North Dakota. Today’s funding comes from the Higher Education Emergency Relief (HEER) fund under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act and will be used to assist students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Details are as follows:

Strengthening Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities

  • Turtle Mountain Community College – $3,262,297
  • Sitting Bull College – $1,368,294
  • United Tribes Technical College – $1,172,839
  • Cankdeska Cikana Community College – $789,173
  • Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College – $400,795

Strengthening Institutions Program

  • Minot State University – $63,459
  • Bismarck State College – $45,861
  • University of Jamestown – $41,868
  • Dickinson State University – $31,786
  • Mayville State University – $15,448
  • Dakota College at Bottineau – $11,574
  • Trinity Bible College and Graduate School – $9,958
  • Lake Region State College – $5,610

“These funds announced from the CARES Act today will help each institution best support the direct needs of their students as they continue navigating these challenging times,” said Hoeven.
