Hoeven Announces More Than $4 Million in Justice Department Grants for North Dakota
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), through the Office of Justice Programs, has awarded the following grants:
- North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation – $4,268,738 made available through the Crime Victims Fund, to provide crime victim services across the state.
- Cass County – $59,274 made available through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program, to purchase supplies and equipment as well as provide training to local law enforcement.
- Bank of North Dakota – $31,602 made available through the John R. Justice Grant program, to support qualified attorneys pursuing careers as prosecutors and public defenders.
- City of Bismarck – $27,614 made available through Byrne JAG funding, to purchase supplies and equipment as well as provide training to local law enforcement.
- North Dakota Attorney General’s Office – $24,488 to enhance programs that comply with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
- Grand Forks County – $20,274 made available through Byrne JAG funding, to purchase supplies and equipment as well as provide training to local law enforcement.
- City of Minot – $16,386 made available through Byrne JAG funding, to purchase supplies and equipment as well as provide training to local law enforcement.
- Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians – $12,299 made available through Byrne JAG funding, to purchase supplies and equipment as well as provide training to local law enforcement.
“This funding from the Department of Justice will support programs both at the state and local levels in North Dakota to support victims of crime and provide resources for law enforcement,” said Hoeven.
