Hoeven Announces More Than $3 Million to Support North Dakota Farmers Growing Specialty Crops
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee and a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded more than $3 million to the North Dakota Department of Agriculture. The funds, awarded through USDA’s Specialty Crop Block Grant Program, will be used to support farmers growing specialty crops such as fruits, vegetables, honey and nursery crops.
“North Dakota’s farmers grow the highest quality, lowest cost food in the world,” Hoeven said. “Today’s funding supports efforts to grow specialty food crops in our state, helping to diversify our state’s agriculture economy.”
