WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice has awarded two grants totaling $625,000 to the Grand Forks Police Department and the City of West Fargo. The funds, awarded through the DOJ’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), are awarded as follows:

Grand Forks Police Department – $500,000 – The funds will be used to hire four law enforcement officers.
City of West Fargo – $125,000 – The funds will be used to hire one law enforcement officer

“Local law enforcement are the first responders who every day deal with the issues facing our communities,” Hoeven said. “These funds will help Grand Forks and West Fargo continue to be safe communities and good places to live and raise a family. That is why we are committed to working to support law enforcement throughout North Dakota.”
