Hoeven Announces $456,000 Loan, Nearly $193,000 Grant to Support Updated Water System for Elgin
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee and a member of the Agriculture Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development has approved a loan of $456,000 and a grant of $192,847 to the City of Elgin. The funds will support the replacement of non-functioning water gate valves in the city’s water system, which currently force the system to be shut down for the entire city during repairs. Additional valves and a water main will be installed to allow further portions of the system to be isolated.
“Our communities need reliable, modern infrastructure to maintain our citizens’ high quality of life,” said Hoeven. “This funding will allow Elgin to make important updates to its water system, providing more predictable service and reducing downtime during repairs.”
