Hoeven Announces $132,000 in Grants for Economic Development Strategies For Dickinson and Minot Areas
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, who serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded a $66,000 grant each to the Souris Basin Planning Council, which serves the Minot area, and the Custer Regional Council for Development, which serves the Dickinson area. The grants will be used to implement comprehensive economic development strategies which will help bring together the public and private sectors in each area to strengthen and diversify economies in the regions.
“These grants will help create long-term strategies for the economic success of north central and western North Dakota,” Hoeven said. “The Minot and Dickinson areas have seen a lot of economic growth over the last few years, and a comprehensive strategy will help both regions capitalize and sustain that recent growth by making the economies in those areas more diverse.”
