Hoeven & Cramer to Host Energy Secretary Perry Next Week for Falkirk & GRE Tours, Roundtable with Local Energy Leaders
Senator Invited Perry during Confirmation Process, Working to Advance Project Tundra and Allam Cycle
WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and Energy and Water Appropriations Committee, today announced that he and Congressman Kevin Cramer will host Energy Secretary Rick Perry in North Dakota on Monday, August 13, for tours of the Falkirk mine and Great River Energy’s facility, as well as a roundtable with local energy leaders. Hoeven invited Perry to visit the state during his confirmation process last year and has consistently worked with the secretary to advance North Dakota’s energy priorities, including research conducted by the Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC), such as Project Tundra and the Allam Cycle.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for Secretary Perry to learn more about the innovative work that the Department of Energy is supporting in our state and how we can further advance our nation’s energy security,” Hoeven said. “Among other things, we have two cutting-edge carbon capture and sequestration projects, Project Tundra, which will be used to retrofit existing power plants, and the Allam Cycle, a supercritical CO2 technology for new coal and natural gas plants. Technologies like this will help ensure we can continue to affordably and reliably power our nation’s homes and businesses, while also reducing emissions.”
