Hoeven Seeks Angels in Adoption Nominees

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today announced that he is accepting nominations of North Dakota residents and organizations who have distinguished themselves through their work on behalf of adopted children, foster children and their families. As in past years, Hoeven will select an individual, family or organization to represent North Dakota at the annual national Angels in Adoption program held each fall in Washington, D.C. Nominations should be submitted by contacting Monty in Hoeven’s Bismarck office via phone (701) 250-4487 or e-mail Monty_Rauser@hoeven.senate.gov by Friday, July 17.

“We have wonderful people in North Dakota who are doing incredible work advocating on behalf of foster and adopted children,” said Hoeven. “Many of these people have welcomed these children into their homes, while others volunteer their time supporting these children or have devoted their life’s work to striving for all children to having a loving home. It is important to recognize the efforts of the individuals supporting adopted and foster children, and the Angels in Adoption program is one way we can honor a North Dakotan who is going above and beyond. I feel privileged to have the chance to nominate someone as an Angel in Adoption.”

The Angels in Adoption program is the signature public awareness campaign of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI). It provides an opportunity for all members of Congress to honor the good work of their constituents who have enriched the lives of foster children and orphans in the United States and abroad.

Last year, Hoeven nominated Rod and Tracey Belzer to honor their outstanding commitment to adoption. During their 27-year marriage, the Belzers have cared for more than 130 different children in addition to their five children, two of whom were adopted.
