Hoeven Honors Families of North Dakota Fallen Service members at Annual TAPS Seminar

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today met with more than 20 North Dakota family members attending the 18th Annual TAPS National Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp for Survivors in Washington, D.C. The TAPS conference, which coincides with the annual Memorial Day observation, is a national event that unites military families from across the country to participate in events tailored to help survivors grieving the loss of a loved one who died while serving our country.

“Meeting with the TAPS families is a moving and inspiring experience,” Hoeven said. “Those who have lost a loved one in the service of our country have also made a tremendous sacrifice. On this and every Memorial Day, we need to acknowledge their great courage and their great loss as we honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.”

The North Dakotans participating in this year’s TAPS seminar were accompanied by North Dakota National Guard staff members. Since 2005, 171 North Dakotans have participated in the annual event, with funding made possible through private donations. The North Dakota National Guard Association administers funding for participants.
